Closing your account

There are a few things we need to tell you before you close your account.

Statements

Once you’ve closed your account, we’ll email you with a bank statement showing your full payment transaction history.

To keep things safe and secure, we’ll password protect the document and text you the password to open it.

Just make sure your email and phone number are up to date in your app before you close your account.

Reopening your account

If you want to re-open your account, you’ll need to wait at least 30 days after you closed it. But keep in mind, there’s a chance we might not be able to re-open it.

Monzo Plus, Premium, Extra, Perks or Max If you have a Monzo Plus, Premium, Extra, Perks or Max you’ll need to cancel that before you close your account.

You can do this by tapping here

You may be charged a cancellation fee - you'll see this information in the app. Please see our terms and conditions for more information:

Savings & Investments

If you have a fixed term pot, you won’t be able to close your account until the pot matures. If you use the Current Account Switching Service (CASS) to close your account, the money from your fixed term pot will move over to your new account when it matures.

If you have an easy access saver, you’ll need to close this pot first. Once the balance has reached your account (the next working day) as well as any interest (usually the second working day of the month), you can close your account.

If you transfer your ISA to another provider, please be aware that there may be instances where interest payments are delayed. In such cases, the interest will be credited to your current account.

If you’d still like to close your account, here’s how:

Bring your balance to £0 (including your Pot balance) Tap the Close Account button below. Or; Tap your Profile (if you can’t see that, swipe down on your card) If needed, tap the Settings cog Tap Close account to get started
