Cash ISA transfers to a new provider

To get an update on your cash ISA transfer, you'll need to get in touch with our Savings team.

What happens during an ISA transfer

1. Start the Transfer: After you initiate the ISA transfer with your new provider and complete the relevant paperwork, they'll contact your current provider to begin the ISA transfer process.

2. Check Value: Your current provider confirms your ISA’s value and the details of the transfer. They may reach out to you if they need to confirm any details. If everything is correct, they can accept the transfer and continue.

3. Move the Money: The money is sent to your new provider along with paperwork to confirm the transfer.

If your new provider can't accept the transfer of investments (in-specie transfer), your current provider may sell them and transfer cash instead. Some providers require you to manually sell down your investments or authorise it before they can continue. Also, this process could incur small fees.

Monzo can only accept cash transfers at the moment, so for ISA transfers to or from Monzo, any investments must first be sold.

4. Final Confirmation: Once your new provider receives the money and the paperwork, they can finalise the transfer.
