Using an Under 16s account abroad
You don't need to tell us if your child is going away 🛫
We won’t block your Under 16s card if we see it being used in a different country.
We don't charge any fees for paying by card or withdrawing from ATMs when abroad
We also don’t mark up the exchange rate, so you’re always getting the best possible deal. You can check the current exchange rate on the Mastercard website.
ATMs abroad may have their own fees, but you can usually avoid them by completing transactions in the local currency.
Child spending limits will be the same
The spending limits you've set will be the same abroad as they are in the UK. Limits are up to £250 spending in one day, and ATM withdrawals are capped at £100 daily.
Here's how you can check and change child limits:
Go to the Under 16s account in your app.
Tap the three dots on their card.
Go to Spending limits.
